The Story of Operation Serve International (OSI)

Operation Serve® International (OSI) is a non-profit, non-denominational 501 (c) (3) humanitarian organization. OSI was established in 1983 with a passion to extend the Kingdom of God on earth through serving the poor and needy, as well as train indigenous pastors & leaders.

As a Kingdom-minded ministry, OSI deploys short-term mission teams from a wide range of Christian denominations and affiliations to encourage and support our national ministries. Hundreds of Great Commission minded Christians join the ministry of OSI annually.

History of Operation Serve® International:

1983
Operation Serve International was founded in a small walk in closet at a local church in Buffalo NY.

1988
To bring nationwide attention to the plight of the Mexican people, our founder Rev. Robert Schenck walked from Buffalo, NY to Mexico. This FAITHWALK was over 2,000 miles.

1991
Dr. Sameh Sadik visited Mexico to evaluate if the ministry would work in Egypt. Connie Jarvis (Sadik) moved to Mexico to begin national teams in Mexico.

1992
First teams to Egypt were deployed as “Joshua Caleb” missions to scout out the land. Today we have a national Egyptian team that continues the ministry.

1994
OSI had a big year with a total of 4 teams being sent into Mexico City to work in the garbage dump cities.

1996
The Pastor and Leadership training programs started! Through the encouragement and development of the national Pastors, churches, and communities, we are able to impact Nations for Christ!

1999
We began training up young people in the way they should go with our Internship Program. OSI headquarters moves from Buffalo, NY to Fairfield, OH.

2001
Egypt Ministry Center located in Cairo, EG is dedicated! The clinic is designed to provide Medical and Dental care throughout the year.

2005
English as a Second Language (ESL) is reinvented in Mexico City and became an ongoing ministry area for OSI. OSI is invited by the King of Morocco to bring mission groups into the country.

2008
Mexico Ministry Center located in Mexico City, MX is purchased! The center has become the headquarters for OSM and is used as a medical clinic and training center.

Our Faith: Words to Live By

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”   II Timothy 3:16, 17

“God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.”   Romans 3:25, 26

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”   Acts 20:35

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.”   Proverbs 19:17

“Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.”   Proverbs 21:13

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”   1 Corinthians 13:13

“Let brotherly love continue.”   Hebrews 13:1
