How long is the Internship Program?

The intern sessions are 4 weeks long. See our Mexico team calendar to find the dates of our internship for the year you are applying.

What does an Intern do?

Interns assist OSI staff and team members while serving in Mexico City. Aiding not only OSI's mobile outreach, interns also take on extra duties to help make the mission run smoothly, doing behind the scenes work that most team members do not experience.

What does each week look like?

Our short term teams do outreach in garbage cities and remote, impoverished regions of Mexico City. The outreach is a mobile unit comprised of medical, dental, optical, hair care and children’s areas. Each work day, the mobile unit moves to a different location, with the hope of providing care for as many people as possible around the city.

Who can be an Intern?

Must be 18 years or older, involved in the local church, and we recommend that interns have served on a team with OSI in the past.

Do I need training?

Yes. All interns must attend a mandatory training session which will be hosted for the first four days of each Intern sessioon in Mexico City.

What is the cost?

Application fee - $25
4 Week Internship Land Fees - $2175
Airfare – Covered by the individual

Where does the money go?

Application fee – covers the cost of materials and an OSI team t-shirt
Land fees – cover the cost of the hotel, transportation in Mexico, meals and supplies

How is it financed?

Many interns send out support letters to family and friends or have fundraisers to help cover the cost. Please contact the home office if you need or have any other suggestions!

Who makes the travel arrangements?

Individuals are expected to make their own travel arrangements to the airport in Mexico City, but you can contact the home office if you would like OSI to make your travel arrangements or find connections with other interns.

How can I apply?

Download an application and pastoral recommendation and mail them in with your application fee. You can also fill out an inquiry if you'd like us to mail you an application.

I have more questions. What now?

Just contact our home office or send us an inquiry. We’d be glad to help!
